Savvy Navigator Itinerary 14-29 November 2008
On Saturday, Savvy Navigator embarks on a wild trip (or a trip to the wilds) to scout out the next great locations for our upcoming gay tours and South Africa vacations. Using our AA/oneworld miles to book business-class airfare on Iberia and BA, we leave from JFK Saturday night, and after a 16-hour interlude in Madrid on Sunday, we arrive into Cape Town Monday afternoon. Here we’ll be discovering the coolest restaurants, meeting with charming local tour guide candidates, and working through tour logistics with our expert ground team.
On Wednesday, we drive up the coast of the Western Cape for a visit with gentleman farmer, Julian Melck at Kersefontein, the Out-of-Africa-like estate that has been in his family for 8 generations. Julian’s the lawyer/hunter/gourmand whose unique presence on the savvy Navigator itinerary makes our trips truly special.
On Thursday, we’re back to Joburg for a quick hotel site visit at our preferred, luxury boutique hotel in that city, Ten Bompas, and drinks with business-school classmates. And on Friday morning, it’s up to Botswana, a new country for Savvy Navigator.
In Botswana we’ll visit three safari camps, Xigera in the Moremi Game reserve, Savuti Camp in the Linyanti Concession in the north, and finally, Vumbura Plains in the Okavango Delta. All are luxurious, well-appointed, tented-camp properties and we’ll be passing along the highlights here in the Savvy Navigator blog.
As Savvy Navigator scouts the world for interesting and off-the-beaten-path locations for his gay tour and luxury vacation offerings, keep your eye on this space to hear more about his urban and safari adventures.
